Programs at the Center for the Constitution

Programs vary by content, length, and audience. All programs are fully funded; provided at no cost to educators or their school systems.

Montpelier Weekend Seminars

Professional development for middle and high school educators from Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Offered throughout the school year, programs begin on Friday evening, and adjourn on Sunday evening or Monday afternoon, maximizing the experience while minimizing time away from the classroom. Montpelier In-Service Retreats

In conjunction with a specific school system or combination of school districts, teachers travel to Montpelier for an overnight stay followed by one day of intense academic instruction focused on the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The Center works closely with school district personnel to implement a program that meets the needs of the school district and fits within their school calendar.

We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution

A comprehensive civic education program that provides professional development and classroom resources for upper elementary, middle, and high school educators from across the country. Programs range from half-day workshops to week-long summer institutes. The program also provides advanced educational opportunities for students. Read more...

Programs for Opinion Leaders

The Center also works with other non-profit and private organizations to provide professional development for other audiences, including federal employees and state Supreme Court justices.

Other Educational Opportunities

In addition to educational opportunities at the Center for the Constitution, the Montpelier Archaeology Department is active year round, doing everything from conducting surveys on the property, to excavating various sites, to processing artifacts in the laboratory.
